Belgium

The Belgian newspaper De Standaard wrote that the Belgian engineer is both in high-demand and unemployed simultaneously. The article was written in 2015, but it seems that this is still the case, as VDAB indicated that in 2018 there were 1.23 unemployed engineers per job opening. If you are an Engineer (or thinking about becoming one), you are in high demand on the Belgian job market.  In addition to this, there are a lot of sectorial variety and possibilities to work abroad, and the Industrial Engineer is in highest demand.

Germany

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and of Labour and Social affairs in Germany signaled a shortage of qualified professionals in quite a few industries. There are vacancies in many technology-driven German companies for Innovative Engineers. The demand for Engineers is reflected through their salaries: starters get, on average, between 36.000 and 45.000 € a year.

The Netherlands

Holland Alumni explains that The Netherlands have the second highest demand for engineers globally, with 13% of all job advertisements focused on the Engineering industry. The profession is in demand for project, mechanical and technical Engineers alike; and water engineers will feel right at home, since Holland has a tradition of flood control and protection.
