5 years ago #Success

ASME lists the 12 principles Wisler talks about, and this article provides all starting engineers with a core summary.

Aim to Self-improve

Being successful is all about knowing your own assets and weaknesses. Try to improve your weak points and showcase what you’re skilled at. If you have a lot of energy and enthusiasm for your work, it will rally others to work on common goals, Wisler explains. Self-improvement also involves having high integrity.  Being meticulous in your work will not only result in your success, but will also prevent serious harm in social, economic and environmental situations.

Aim to Improve your Team

While you are improving yourself, always keep the team in mind, as you have to work together to find solutions on how to bring a product into the market. Wisler confirms that skills to network and communicate are just as important as technical skills.

Keep in Mind what you’re Contributing

The cost to produce your company’s product will affect the company’s decisions. Keep in mind what your cost is to the firm - in salary and benefits - and try to bring value of an equal measure. Wisler advises new employees to work on a budget and time frame for themself, so that when the company prospers, those benefits are transferred.
